Delhi the rape capital of India erupts in massive protests
over the rape of a five year old. The
protesters raise slogans against the government machinery, break barricades,
clash with the police and give interviews to TV channels. It has become much easier to put the blame on
the government, blame on the police, find fault with the judiciary and the
official machinery than to look inwards at our own actions.
Each time some sick maniac does anything wrong, is it not
the individual who is to be blamed for his actions or do we keep finding fault
with the government. Why are we always
trying to put the blame on the government?
Are we right in doing so? Are we
trying to take the focus away from individual actions and have started shifting
the blame on the official apathy that we see around us?
Men who are so debauched in their thoughts that they will do
anything to get instant sexual gratification.
These are men who do not look at a five year old girl as an angel but as
a sexual object. What is it that prompts a man to rape a five year old girl in
such a brutal manner? What is the mistake that we as parents are doing in
bringing up our sons?
It is time for us to look inwards and find the reason for our
men behaving in this manner. The fault lies within us and it is time we accept
that. We as a society have failed to protect
our daughters. Let us stop shifting the
blame and start looking at ourselves to ascertain what has gone wrong with our
great society.
