Ways to go green, climate change, ozone layer, environment, global warming, rising sea levels, deforestation and many other related topics, continue to hog the headlines. Can we as individuals contribute to the betterment of our environment? The answer is a resounding YES.
We can all take small but significant steps, which will stop climate changes and help us, live better life’s. There are plenty of options both inside and outside your house on ways to go green. Here are some tips, which will help make the world and the environment a better place to live in, not just for us but for our children and grandchildren.
  • Start by cutting down on your energy uses. Switch off the appliances, which are not in use. Change to LED bulbs instead of CFL bulbs. LED bulbs are energy efficient and last twice as longer than other bulbs.
  • Try using alternate sources of energy. Solar energy is renewable and does not cause any damage to the environment. You can also save significantly on your energy bills.
  • Water is one of the most valuable and fast depleting resource of the world. Conserve water by closing the faucets completely all the way down. Even a small trickle could lead to substantial wastage of water over a period of time. Take a bath instead of a shower.
  • After washing the clothes do not use the dryer, instead let them hand out in the sun and air, which will dry them effectively.
  • If you turn down the heater a couple of degrees in the winter and summer, it will result in reducing your energy bills considerably.
  • Buy vegetables which are produced in the local farms. You will not just support the local economy but also reduce pollution as your vegetables and fruits do not have to travel long distances to reach you.
  • Opt for a vegetable garden in your backyard. You can produce organic vegetables which are healthy and free from the harmful effects of chemicals.
  • Walk or take your bike, while going to the local supermarket. Avoid taking out your car for short distances.
If you adopt these simple ways to go green, you not just save the environment from the harmful effects of pollution but also save significant amounts of money. Go green and give your planet the breathing space it needs.
